No surprise here and most of us are familiar with this option, however it’s definitely not the best choice, but we have to mention it and these sites will probably give you the best results:

- Booking
- Hotelcombined
- Hotellook
- priceline

the classic option of the hungry backpacker. Hostels are great and can be ideal for someone who is looking to meet other people while sticking to a low budget. Most hostels you can sleeps in a private or a shared room (“dorms”) and in some of the hostels you can even find shared kitchens (so you can save some money on restaurants).- agoda – best choice, same prices as booking, only here sometimes you can “earn” back some of your money.

- Booking
- hostelworld

warning: do not use tripadviosor, I repeat do not use it. Along my trips I have seen a lot of people book their hostels via tripadviosor and wate their money. it’s widely overpriced, mostly because you have to fund the extra commission to google.

Apartments and private homes

in the recent years more and more people offer their houses/rooms to other travelers. Some thought this is a fading trend but as time went by it became clear – this phenomenon is here to stay. This could be perfect for couples or people who travel in groups. Thus, sometimes for a price of a bed of in a doorms you can find a nice cousy private house with facilities you can only dream in hostels. However you should remember this could be especially attractive in developed countries.

Couchsurfing is an amazing community and service. Long story short, it allows you to sleep in people houses (usually on couches or beds) for free. But its more than just a cheap accommodation, it’s a great way to meet local people and practice culture exchange.

This can totally change your travel experience. Plus, due to all the money it can save you, it can allow you to go to expansive places otherwise you wouldn’t go to.In order to get hosted you have to open a profile in the site. Don’t rush this step, a good detailed profile is essential for finding hosts.

House sitting is the practice whereby a person leaving their house for a period of time entrusts it to one or more "house sitters", who by a mutual agreement are permitted to live or stay in the property temporarily, in exchange for assuming any combination of responsibilities. These can include taking care of the home owner's pets, performing general maintenance (including pools, lawns, air-conditioning systems, etc.), keeping trespassers off the property, readdressing the mail, and in general, making sure that everything runs smoothly, just as if the owner was at home.

It’s a really good way to save money while getting an awesome accommodation. Its important to follow all of your resposbilities as the sites works with references, the better the references, the easier it will be to find a house. Most site charge registration money, however, it is a one time fee and once, you are in, you could save a lot of money. Trust me, you will get your money back.

not much to explain here, get your tent and hit the road. I am kidding, if you choose this option make sure you are ready. Research the destination and understand what is the necessary equipment and make sure you got it. You don’t wanna find in the middle of a storm that your tent is not water proof (I have been there). On the other hand, don’t let this stop you, its really not that complicated once you come prepare and its great way to same money while truly experience nature. There isn’t one site I can recommend you here, just search on google “camping sites” plus the country you are going to and you will find what you need. However I can recommend you on dektlon company, high quality gear for a good price.
